A locally grown chazzan, Benjy was brought up right on our doorstep in Prestwich, Manchester. Born in 1986, he spent his childhood studying at Broughton Jewish Cassel Fox Primary School before graduating to The Manchester Jewish Grammar School. After completing his A-levels, Benjy spent a year studying in Yeshivat Ateret Yerushalayim in Israel under Rabbi Michael Jablinowitz and a further year volunteering for Magen David Adom in Jerusalem as an emergency first responder.

In addition to his current employment as the Chazzan of Stenecourt, Benjy is studying for his Bachelor’s degree in Management Systems at the Manchester Metropolitan University. Once he has gained his BSc, Benjy will accept a job with Bnei Akiva UK as the Technical Director and will be commuting weekly from London to daven for us.

Benjy’s reputation as a chazzan is well recognised internationally; his singing has enhanced countless wedding ceremonies around the world and has been invited to daven in shuls in New York, Israel and around the United Kingdom. He has performed with many exceptionally talented Jewish Musicians, including Stephen Levey, Benny Weiss, Mendy Portnoy, Reuven Bamberger, Sruli Ginsberg, and many more. He has held 2 previous positions officiating for the High Holy Days, at Cheadle Yeshurun and at Newcastle United Hebrew Congregation. Benjy has participated in many communal events, including leading the annual Manchester Yom Yerushalayim services for Bnei Akiva for many years and leading Selichot and Chanuka candle lighting services.
